Congratulations to the Girls’ Middle School Blue Soccer team, 2009 CJAL Champions! On Friday, the Panthers faced the Piners of Lakehurst for the third time this fall. Ranney was 1-0-1 against Lakehurst going into Friday’s game. The girls won again, this time earning the Championship title. The game was played here on campus at Karagianakis Field. Scoring first was Ranney team captain, Alessandra Johnson. After the half, Alessandra scored again off a penalty kick, making it 2-0. Lakehurst rallied to score their first, but could not take control of the game. Ranney struck again in the last minutes to seal the victory. The game winner was scored by team captain Madison Pflaster off another penalty kick. Coach Snyder was especially proud of the defense, crediting Kenna Conley and Katherine Vates as key to the win. In goal, Morgan Lennon faced five shots and tallied four saves. Also standing out was Kristen Guyler who helped control the ball in the midfield, and Brooke Fromkin, who was injured in the first, but returned to play with outstanding determination in the second.
