Ranney School students will take to the stage for three consecutive nights this month in a production of William Shakespeare’s classic, Macbeth. Premiering on November 12, 13 and 14, Ranney Thespian Troupe #630 brings the Bard’s tragic tale of Macbeth, the ambitious 12th century Scottish warrior and his murderous quest for power, to the stage in RSPA Panther Hall.


In this modern retelling, the witches, ghosts and demons that haunt Macbeth and his royal clan appear in a moody, atmospheric setting. Under the spell of the witches’ prophecy, Macbeth and his manipulative wife, Lady Macbeth, plot to overthrow benevolent King Duncan and his regime. As they plan to carry out their evil scheme, they become haunted by ghosts, controlled by witches, and are finally undermined by their own ambitions.


Directed by John Doyle, Ranney School’s Middle and Upper School drama teacher, Macbeth remains one of Shakespeare’s most popular tragedies. The play promises to be a highlight of Ranney School’s 50th Anniversary performing arts series. Tickets are $10.00 and will be available at the door.
