It was a lineup of familiar names at the Upper School Sports Banquet, held in RSPA Panther Hall on Thursday, November 19, as student athletes, representing Ranney’s teams in Field Hockey, Soccer, Cross Country, Tennis and Crew stepped to the podium to accept their athletic awards for Most Valuable Player, Coach’s Choice, Sportsmanship and Most Improved.

Although new to the Athletic program and Ranney School, Assistant Director of Athletics Ian McNamara notes, “It is very clear that Ranney School has a strong commitment to the development of the whole student, not only in the classroom but also on the sports field. The hard work and dedication of the staff and coaches is visible in every day practice sessions, behind the scenes preparation, game days and at awards ceremonies such as this.” The result of that hard work played out during the fall sports season with the Girls’ Varsity Tennis taking home two major titles: their first-ever Prep B State Team Championship and second consecutive NJSIAA Sectional Championship. Team member Laura Church also established a school record, winning her 4th Prep State title, and it was the debut year for Crew, with Ranney participating in its first regatta, entering in both men’s and women’s singles and quads. These were only a few of this fall’s individual and team athletic successes.

Congratulations to all Upper School athletes and to this year’s awards winners:

Our mission is to know and value every child, nurturing intellectual curiosity and confidence, and inspiring students to lead honorably, think creatively, and contribute meaningfully to society.

We envision Ranney School as a nurturing learning community, in which families, faculty, alumni, and all of Ranney’s constituents collaborate to know and value every child, foster individual talents, sustain powerful connections between children and adults, and graduate resilient, globally-minded citizens.
