Upper School Band Delights Theatergoers With Smooth Jazz

RSPA Panther Hall was filled with the sounds of ‘smooth jazz’ as the Upper School Jazz Band performed in concert on Tuesday, May 18.


Presented by the Tri-M Music Honor society Chapter # 5275, fifteen Upper School students who comprise the Jazz Band performed a variety of familiar favorites from “Does Anybody Know What Time It Is” by Chicago to “Tenth Avenue Freeze Out” by Bruce Springsteen. Other selections included “Sir Duke” by Stevie Wonder and “I Don’t Wanna Go Home” by Stevie Van Zandt.


In “Bb Blues,” students also had an opportunity to showcase their individual talents on piano, guitar, drums, trumpet and saxophone.


Led by Kevin Cotter, a member of Ranney’s music faculty, The Upper School Jazz Band is comprised of the following students:

Matt Callahan and Eric Chiang served as Sound Technicians for what was a wonderful evening of music by Ranney’s talented young musicians.
