Middle School Athletes Honored at Spring Athletic Awards Banquet

Ranney’s Middle School recently recognized its outstanding student athletes at their annual awards ceremony held on Tuesday, May 25 in RSPA Panther Hall.

Ranney’s Middle School recently recognized its outstanding student athletes at their annual awards ceremony held on Tuesday, May 25 in RSPA Panther Hall.

 

Emmett Walling, Ranney Aquatics Director, provided welcoming remarks to the more than 200 guests gathered in Panther Hall. Ian McNamara also offered an overview of this year’s athletic accomplishments.

 

This year’s program honored Middle School students in five major award categories, in addition to award presentations by Ranney’s spring coaching staff. A variety of athletic awards were presented by Brian Dolan (baseball), Alex Winnicker (Boys’ Tennis), Eileen McEnery (Track & Field), Alexis Snyder (Girls’ Lacrosse), Daniel Moller (Boys’ Lacrosse), Jonna Gilbert (Softball), Chris Meharg (Crew) and Ian McNamara (Golf).

 

Among the major athletic awards given that evening included recipients of this year’s Panther Pride Awards. Mackenzie Marcellino, Alexandra Esquivel-Murphy, Caroline Korey and Dylan Staats were honored for their outstanding contributions to the athletic department.

 

Student athletes from each of the three Middle School classes who exhibited outstanding sportsmanship were also recognized. The 2010 Sportsmanship Award recipients were Amanda Hurd, Andrew Grover, Sean Callahan, Kristen Guyler, Zachary DiGiaro, and Hannah Stamer.

 

Eight students were among this year’s Athletic Directors Award recipients. Jack Boyan, Brianna Marchese, Peter Gerhard, Giavanna Marchese, Alessandra Johnson, Liam Wall, Joseph Esquivel-Murphy and Briana Richardson were honored for their love and dedication for sports and for their outstanding efforts to succeed in athletics.

 

Also receiving awards that evening were Madison Boyan and Charles Sabaitis who were named Outstanding Athlete Award recipients. The award is presented to a male and female Middle School athlete who best demonstrates dedication and commitment to performing well.

 

Vincent Morano and Giulia DiGuglielmo received this year’s 2010 Blue & White Awards for demonstrating sportsmanship, leadership, self-discipline, cooperation and enthusiasm throughout their Middle School career.

 

In addition to this year’s award presentations, the program also included a special video of “The Year in Review” by Dr. Noel Delgado. Madison Boyan, Class of 2014, offered a closing reflection on “The Ranney Experience.”
