Performers Take Center Stage This Summer

Young performing arts students have been busy this summer at Ranney School.  For novice, intermediate and advanced performers alike, instrumental instruction and coaching in the dramatic arts have taken center stage, giving students the opportunity to discover their hidden talents or refine their skills.

This summer, Ranney Summer Programs offered several special courses designed for students interested in instrumental music and theater, including Instrumental Insights courses for Band, Group Keyboard or Orchestra; Technical Theater Insights: Lights and Sound;  and Drama Insights: Character Acting and Scene Study.  Each course focuses on its specific area of performing arts giving students a unique hands-on experience guided by teachers, who are themselves gifted musicians and actors.  Taking advantage of Ranney’s RSPA Panther Hall performing space, classrooms and a well established performing arts program, students learn everything from the fundamentals of instrumental music to advanced levels of musicianship.  In the theater arts, students are exposed to both front and backstage operations, providing a well rounded view of what it takes to create a successful dramatic or musical performance.

The culmination of each course is an actual on-stage student performance, which gives young performers the opportunity to show off how much they’ve learned before an appreciative audience of parents, teachers and fellow students.
