Summer programs at Ranney continue to offer students an exciting and challenging range of courses that not only enhance and enrich the learning process but also foster leadership, confidence and collaboration.
Students enrolled in Ranney’s Summer Programs Public Speaking courses are learning the basic elements of good public speaking, as well as strengthening their oral communication and articulation skills. A recent public speaking performance directed by Melanie Taylor, a drama and musical theater teacher and coach at the Count Basie Theater, gave students the opportunity to practice their public speaking skills on a wide variety of topics they chose themselves. From baseball and cellphones to how to be safe at the beach, students put the lessons they learned to practice as they took to the stage and spoke passionately about their chosen topic.
Also, students had a chance to showcase their unique musical talents in a recent talent show under the direction of music specialists Gary Rosato and Michele Cupo. The morning show featured youngsters from pre-k to 2nd grade, while the afternoon performance showcased 3rd to 5th graders. Both shows were warmly received by a capacity crowd of fellow campers, parents and friends who filled the Commons.
As summer programs at Ranney nears to a close, students will have, as in years past, learned new skills, formed close friendships and enjoyed their time spent on the Ranney campus!
