Students & Faculty Engage in Competitions

Members of the Upper School headed to the Gerhard Pavilion for Athletics on Friday afternoon, March 25 for a Quiz Show Challenge between several teachers and students from the Academic Team.

Hosted by Mr. Doug Felter, teachers and students answered questions pertaining to pop-culture, science, history, art, math and sports. In the end, the “Teacher All-Star” team comprised of Louise Dewar, Valerie Schwake, Nicole Martone, Brian Daly, Daniel Lippiello, Marie Curry and Veronica Warren scored higher than students Roey Hadar ’13, Stephen Triano ’11, McCall Torpey ’11, Sanjit Shashi ’12, Peter Goldberg ’12 and Jake Bassinder ’13 of the school’s Academic Team. The final score: 305-255.

In light of spirited student-teacher competition, the Athletic Department also hosted a faculty versus student basketball game in the GPA on Friday, April 8, 2011.

A strong defensive effort on the part of faculty members Brian Dolan, Eileen McEnery, Joseph Tweed, Daniel Moller, Alexis Snyder, Michael Ling, David Ketcham and Amelia Caverly overcame senior-players Yousef Hozayen, Jonathan DeCarlo, Parth Amin, Adarsh Parikh, Hamdi Albana, Joshua Penn, Jon-Michael Coscia and Joseph DiSalvo on offense. From the faculty team, gym teacher Alexis Snyder and Dean of Middle School students David Ketcham scored several key baskets in the 55-34 victory. Meanwhile, varsity basketball players Adarsh Parikh ’11 and Parth Amin ’11 earned many points for the student team.

Both students and faculty members look forward to academic and athletic rematches next school year as each will prepare extra hard to defend their honor.
