Panther Pride Student Round-up Series- 8/1/2011

Honoring students Ariana Mangano '19, Natalie Yang '16, Shane Keenan '17 and Tessa Payer '16.
Instilled with the motto of Knowledge, Vision, Honor, Ranney students are driven to reach their fullest potential — even when school is not in session. Whether an athlete or actor, success could be found in several students who shared their stories with us this summer. Congratulations to them and all other Panthers who have done Ranney proud. Keep up the great work!

Ariana Mangano ’19 (Colts Neck) and Natalie Yang ’16 (Colts Neck)
More than 3,500 athletes — including nine Ranney School Panthers – competed at the USA Fencing Summer National Championships in Reno, Nevada from July 1-10. The largest fencing tournament in the world, the event included more than 6,000 individual entrants and served as the first qualifying event of the 2011 Junior and Cadet World Championships.

Representing Ranney in the Women’s Y10 Foil North American Cup, Ariana Mangano ’19 (Colts Neck) earned a Bronze medal after tying with Melissa Du from Short Hills, New Jersey. Additionally from Ranney, Natalie Yang ’16 (Colts Neck) placed sixth in the Women’s Y12 Foil North American Cup. Both Ariana and Natalie — along with all Ranney Panthers — faced opponents from as far west as California and Texas.

Shane Keenan '17 (Tinton Falls)
Out of the classroom and onto the soccer field, sixth grade scholar-athlete Shane Keenan (Tinton Falls) played an integral role on the Ocean Lightning Under 12 Boys’ Soccer team this summer.

Aside from winning the prestigious 2011 Rider Cup Tournament available to elite academy and travel soccer teams this July, Shane’s championship team also ranked 14th in the Mid Atlantic Premier Soccer (MAPS) Association. A lead scorer at striker and midfield this summer, Shane looks forward to his debut with Ranney’s Middle School soccer program in the fall. While playing for Ranney, Shane hopes to also continue his play with the club team as well.

Tessa Payer ’16 (Wall)
Tessa Payer ’16 (Wall) auditioned for a summer workshop at Algonquin Arts Theatre on Saturday, July 2. The workshop included a chorus part in a professional production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat. Following her audition, Tessa was offered an ensemble part in the musical. She performed on July 29, 30, 31 and will perform again August 5, 6, 7. For more information on the production, please click here.
