"Panther Pride" Shines at Fall Pep Rally

“Panther Pride” shone bright on the Guidone Track as Ranney’s Athletic Department hosted its fall Pep Rally on Friday, September 30, 2011. In what promises to be a monumental year for the Athletic Department, which will officially transition to the Shore Conference next fall, excitement could be seen in every student, teacher and administrator in attendance.

After honoring the nation’s flag through a “Star Spangled Banner” performance by members of the Upper School Chorus, Ranney’s head MC for the day —Physical Education Teacher Brian Dolan — then called on each coach to introduce his/her respective teams, captains and managers. The vibrant crowd of spectators cheered as Coaches Eileen McEnery, Heidi Bonney, Barbara Bongiovanni, Noel Delgado, Ph.D., Nancy King, Christine Repoli, Michael Ling, Brian Dolan, Ian McNamara and Rebecca Sullivan proudly announced the names of Upper and Middle School scholar-athletes from the athletic program’s 14 fall teams.

Dressed in blue or white team uniforms and “Panther Pride” gear, the school also participated in cheers led by Mr. Dolan and the Ranney Panther, as well as attempted to catch T-shirts tossed by Mr. McNamara, Mr. Dolan and the Panther. The Lower School Cubs made their grand departure through an archway of outstretched arms and hands as Pep Rally concluded. In acknowledgement of each student’s amazing school spirit and undying pride, all were awarded a high-five from the Panther, who could be found waiting at the end of the man-made tunnel.

While many returned to class, five Ranney Middle School and varsity teams happily boarded buses to schools such as Henry Hudson, Mater Dei and Parsippany Hills — filled with a rejuvenated sense of pride on what proved a great day to be a Panther.
