New Afterschool Programs Extend Ranney Experience

Beginning October 11, 2011, Ranney Plus - available at no additional cost - provides students with various afterschool offerings that extend learning in such subject areas as the performing arts, technology, science, math, athletics and more.

Ranney Plus will be offered on the following dates throughout the school year:
October 11 - November 25
December 5 – February 3
March 5 – April 27
A part of Ranney School’s 2010 Strategic Plan, this fall marks the launch of a student-enrichment program known as Ranney Plus.

Beginning October 11, 2011 and available at no additional cost, this program provides students with various afterschool offerings that extend learning in such subject areas as the performing arts, technology, science, math, athletics and more. Offered to students — throughout all divisions — three times per school year, Ranney Plus also supplies children grades three through 12 with evening transportation on a 5:30 p.m. bullet-run bus. Aftercare, complete with a light snack and beverage, is available to all age levels until 6:00 p.m. as well.

Lasting approximately five weeks, the Lower School’s fall session of Ranney Plus offers children grades two through five the opportunity to participate in afterschool activities ranging from cross country and computers to painting and walking clubs two times per week. Future activities will also include soccer, basketball, softball, creative writing, cooking, forensics and environmental studies.

Each Middle School Ranney Plus session will run approximately seven weeks, with this fall offering a hands-on science club, Ranney writer’s club, guitar club and robotics club. Additional clubs like the “Middle School Homework Club” and “Middle School Learning Center Club” are also available, and provide homework support and subject-specific tutoring for those in need.

While the Upper School division already provides a wide variety of afterschool activities encompassing the athletics, arts and more, Ranney Plus will introduce a Chinese club and study skills lab this season. The program’s bullet-run bus, meanwhile, gives students additional time to work on projects with their peers, attend afterschool activities or athletic events and receive extra help.

Through a program that is sure to increase extracurricular involvement and foster positive learning, Ranney Plus ensures that students will obtain the full Ranney experience.
