Stories and Songs: A Showcase Evening of Drama and Original Songs

A means of showcasing the Upper School’s Performing Arts program, Ranney’s International Thespians Troupe and Tri-M Music Honor Society hosted an evening of Stories and Songs in RSPA Panther Hall on Thursday, February 23, 2012.
A means of showcasing the Upper School’s Performing Arts program, Ranney’s International Thespians Troupe and Tri-M Music Honor Society hosted an evening of Stories and Songs in RSPA Panther Hall on Thursday, February 23, 2012.

Of those 25 acts presented to members of the audience throughout the night, performances included monologues from such movies as The Princess Diaries (Molly O’Neill ’13) and Good Will Hunting (Jacob Wahba ’16), musical renditions of “Wish You Were Mine” (Leah Chaise ’13) and “You and Me” (Sabrina Palazzolo ’14), poetry readings by William Shakespeare (Hannah Simpson ’12) and other skits. All in all, approximately 26 students representing the Middle and Upper School Forensics teams, Tri-M and Jr. Tri-M Music Honor Societies and International Thespians Troupe took to the Roberts’ Stage where they showed off their guitar, piano or vocal skills.
 
Award-Winning Forensics team members introduced during the show ranged from Middle School students Matthew Kumar ’16, Holden Glazer ’16, Karl Brand ’16, Sophia Jackman’16, Tessa Payer ’16, Jacob Wahba, Sallie Haas ’16, Jerome Cohen ’16 and Michelle Krameisen ’16 to Upper School performers Kendall Torpey ’13, George Timmins ’15, Steven Jacobson ’14, Madison Price ’13, Whitney Kelly ’14, Evelyn Giovine ’12 and Hannah Simpson.

Other acts included Brandon Gioggia ’16 with J.D. Mullally ’16, and Sarah Bartosh ’12, Brandon Flynn ’14, Samantha Chiarello ’15 and Henry Miller ’15 as well. While Thursday’s Stories and Songs event served as just one way to showcase the talents held in both Upper and Middle School students attending Ranney, upcoming events that further highlight the skills found throughout the Performing Arts Department will include:
