RSPA Strolls the Yellow Brick Road for Annual Family Dance

Typically the home of an everyday basketball court and multi-purpose gymnasium, Ranney’s Gerhard Pavilion for Athletics was transformed into the Land of Oz at the Parents Association’s second annual Family Dance on March 9, 2012.

More than 250 parents, students and staff members followed the Yellow Brick Road through Munchkin Land, across poppy fields and past apple orchards to the Emerald City where they found a catered dinner, lots of music and some added entertainment including a stilt-walking scarecrow and face painter on Friday evening. Provided at no charge to attendees, the dance allowed parents and students spanning both Monmouth and Ocean Counties to engage in social time and strengthen the bond of community shared at Ranney.

The RSPA’s Parent-Child Dance Committee was led by Chairwoman Tara Jones (mother of Siobhan ’21 and Gavin ’25), Co-Chair Laura Hauck (mother to Aaron ’21 and Mackenzie ’21) and RSPA Executive Board member Melissa Stevenson (mother of Aidan ’21), along with RSPA President Mimi Keenan (mother to Conor ’13 and Shane ’17).

For information on upcoming RSPA events, including a “Reading for Ranney Day” book sale at Barnes and Noble on April 16, Spring Garden Sale on May 9-11, and 25th Annual Panther Ball on May 19, please email the Parents’ Association at RSPA@ranneyschool.org.
