Ranney’s Middle School Forensics team showcased Middle and Upper School Performing Arts during its second annual Music and Monologues event held in the Commons Theater on Friday evening, April 20, 2012.
Sponsored by the Tri-M and Thespian Honor Societies, students grades six through 12 took to the Black Box Stage, where they presented a variety of talents, some of which encompassed instrumental performances from pianist Remi Rohl ’15 playing Tchaikovsky’s Lyric Waltz and practiced singer-guitarist Sabrina Palazzolo ’14 performing Jewel’s You Were Meant for Me. Throughout the evening, performers also graced the audience with voice selections ranging from Broadway show tunes (My Fair Lady) to movie ballads (Wizard of Oz). Forensics pieces accompanied the night’s entertainment as well. Students not only read folktales and excerpts by Roald Dahl, Harper Lee and James Hurst, but also recited monologues from contemporary films and plays like The Producers and Say Good Night, Gracie.
While this event truly showcased the amazing talents of Ranney’s Middle and Upper School students, the community also thanks Forensics Director Nancy Wade and Forensics Coaches John Doyle, Allison Reddington, Lilly Torrente and Tess Nielsen for their hard work and dedication, which added to the evening’s success.
