Performing Arts Dept. to Host Series of Concerts throughout the Month of May

Please join the Performing Arts Department as it hosts four very special concerts open to the public and all school community members throughout the month of May!

Ranney’s 2012 Spring Concert Series will commence with an Upper School Instrumental Concert at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2012. Led by Ranney’s Upper School Chamber Players and the ever-popular Jazz Band, Friday evening’s musical selection will contain genres ranging from classical and pop to jazz standards. Such compositions to be heard will include Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins, Van Morrison’s Moondance and more. Accompanying some of Ranney’s most talented musicians and newest Tri-M® Music Honor Society members will be several faculty guests as well.

Next up, musicians within Ranney’s Lower School music elective program will take to the Roberts’ Stage for a night of performances beginning 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 10. A spotlight on Ranney’s beginners and advanced beginners ensembles, audience members will have the privilege of hearing several musical selections from the Lower School’s Band, Chorus and Orchestra ensembles. The evening promises to be both fun and exciting as it highlights skills and repertoire learned throughout a year of musical study.

Audience members are also invited to attend a Middle School Concert at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 17. A great way for some of Ranney’s finest and most dedicated Middle School musicians to prepare for other Middle School music activities including Dorney Park’s Music in the Parks Festival on May 18, concert-goers will hear from the division’s Band, Chorus and Orchestra ensembles.

Finally, the Performing Arts Department’s month of musical performances will conclude with an Upper School “Golden Broadway Decades” Concert at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2012. Some of Broadway's finest melodies will fill RSPA Panther Hall as senior stars from Ranney’s Tri-M® and Thespian honor societies, along with the Upper School Chorus, present scenes from Showboat, Girl Crazy, Anything Goes, Carousel, South Pacific and Candide — all the best of Broadway's Golden Age.

Admission to all events is free of charge, so come out and enjoy some of Ranney’s finest musicians during this month of musical performances.
