The Performing Arts Department proudly announces the cast of The Threepenny Opera (Die Dreigroschenoper) by dramatist Bertolt Brecht and composer Kurt Weill.

Premiering March 6, 7, 8, 2014
Directed By John Doyle
Musical Direction by Tess Nielsen

The Threepenny Opera is a work of epic theatre. It was adapted from John Gay's The Beggar's Opera (18th century England) to offer a contemporary critique of the capitalist world. The Threepenny Opera is an early example of the modern musical comedy. Its score is deeply influenced by jazz. It challenges the conventional notions of theatre.
