The Ranney Annual Fund provides educational advantages for our students and supports faculty as they teach, mentor and coach, helping to support the mission-promise that every child is known and valued. The Annual Fund positively influences the intellectual, athletic and personal development of every student, every day. Supporting the arts, athletics, academics and growing programs such as Robotics, donors who contribute to the Annual Fund create endless opportunities for our students.
This year, a new project that will be made possible by the Ranney Annual Fund is the expansion and renovation of the Athletic Training Room. This space plays a unique and important role in the life of the Ranney athletic program and in the lives of the scholar-athletes that our coaches and athletic department care for year-round. In addition to enhancing the overall health, fitness and wellness of our entire Beginners (age 3) through 12th grade community, the Athletic Training Room is an essential facility for the management of healthy athletes as well as the rehabilitation of injured athletes. A modern Athletic Training Room is a necessity for any successful and well-managed athletic program. The current Athletic Training Room located inside the Gerhard Pavilion for Athletics (GPA) has served the Ranney community well for many decades; however the time has come to modernize and expand the space and update the facility’s equipment.
“Thanks to the generosity of parents in our community who provided lead gifts for this project, we are more than half-way to our fundraising goal,” said Lynn Lucarelli, Director of Development. The renovation, which will be completed and funded through tax-deductible gifts made to the Annual Fund, calls for a build-out that triples the capacity, along with a complete redesign and upgrade of the existing area. The project will provide sufficient rehabilitation and evaluation space, suitable treatment areas, and overall, a more appropriate and beneficial environment for the prevention, care and monitoring of our scholar-athletes. Furnished with new state-of-the-art equipment and arranged to provide on-site evaluation and care of immediate and long-term injuries, the newly renovated center will allow for the highest level of professional care available.
“The newly renovated and expanded, full-service orthopedic rehabilitation facility will also help give our athletes a winning edge and prepare them to perform at an optimum level,” said Ranney Athletic Trainer Neila Buday, LAT. New equipment will include treatment tables, taping stations, rehabilitation equipment, a stationary bike and various other safety items and storage areas. “These new additions will transform our current room into a professional center equipped to promote safe and appropriate practice and competition.”
“We believe the new Athletic Training Room will significantly enhance the scholar-athlete experience,” said Ranney School parents and project supporters, Dr. Brian Torpey (McCall ’11, Kendall ’13, Matthew ’17 and Jack ’18) and Dr. Christopher Johnson (Anna Rose ’08, Christopher ’11, Alessandra ’14 and Robert ’17.) “We are committed to helping Ranney advance its athletic program so that our scholar-athletes can continue to be prepared to succeed in the paths they choose while at Ranney and beyond.”
