First Graders Share Passion for Earth Day

Students throughout all grades of the Lower School, as well as some Upper Schooler Environmental Science students, had a chance to get their hands dirty today while creating a new organic garden on Ranney’s Annex and Commons Building lawns. They laid marigold seeds around a flower maze, planted flowers and pea seeds into garden boxes for a future “spring salad” and distributed wildflower seeds around the back lake reserve. The Upper School students helped to establish a memorial garden as well. The garden’s establishment was part of this week’s Earth Day celebration. Here, a few first graders talk about why they think Earth Day is important.
