Students Win Top Honors in Foreign Language Contest

Mackenzie Schultz ’20 (Colts Neck) won first place in the Spanish beginner level contest at the 31st Annual Orlando Saa Foreign Language Poetry Recitation Contest in mid-May 2014. Her sister, Evan, Class of 2017, won third place in intermediate Spanish, and Henry Miller ’15 (Oceanport) won honorable mention in Advanced French. Also participating in the competition were Caroline Cuskley ’17 (Rumson), Toby Savage ’18 (Fair Haven), Sathya Edamadaka ’19 (Allentown). Toby competed in the native French level, Sathya competed in beginner French and Caroline competed in intermediate French. The school was allowed only one representative for each language and each level. Students from 43 high schools and five middle schools competed in nine languages at four different levels.
