Ranney Opens New Lower School Playground
Thanks to the generosity of families and donors to the Annual Fund, our Lower School students are returning to school this September to find an amazing new playground. Young students can now enjoy expansive all-weather turf for safer play (no more wood chips!) and intelligent-play equipment. The new equipment allows children to imagine and get exercise as they climb in and around a tension-rope space ball, find their balance across a sway bridge and discover new nooks in the great Ranney ship.
An ice-cream social and grand opening took place on September 8 with more than 350 members of the Ranney School community. Children’s eyes lit up as they saw the space for the first time, and students of all ages had a blast testing out the new equipment. They used the ship’s bridges and port holes to play “pirates,” tested their strength on the tension ropes and balance beams, and enjoyed exploring the new space with their friends on the fresh green turf.
The Lower School playground is just one of many renovations completed over the summer of 2014. This month, we'll spotlight more campus changes students and families will discover on campus this fall, including the Theatre in the Commons, Searle Media Center, Athletic Training Room, sustainable gardens, robotics, and more.
