Guest Author Shares Success & Skills with Upper School
On Dec. 16, the Upper School welcomed a special guest—award-winning young adult novelist A.S. King.
On December 16, the Upper School welcomed a special guest—award-winning young adult novelist A.S. King. Her works include Reality Boy, Ask the Passengers, Everybody Sees the Ants and Please Ignore Vera Dietz. The author has received a New York Times Editor’s Choice award, a Junior Library Guild award, a Los Angeles Times Book Prize award and many more honors.
In addition to discussing her books, character development and what it’s like to be a successful author, Ms. King led a writing workshop with the students.
Mrs. King, who currently teaches writing at the Vermont College of Fine Art, also writes short fiction and adult novels. Her newest book, Glory O’Brien’s History of the Future, was released in October 2014 and has already garnered six starred trade reviews and landed on several end-of-year best lists. Her next novel, I Crawl Through It, is due in fall 2015.
