Middle School Actresses to Take NYC Stages
Olivia Batista ‘21 and Samantha Riebesell ‘19 will work in a Broadway workshop this summer.
Congratulations to Olivia Batista ‘21 and Samantha Riebesell ‘19 for being selected to work with the iTheatrics Broadway Junior team this summer in New York City. iTheatrics is the creative team behind the Broadway Jr. series of musicals, many of which have been performed right here at Ranney School.
After auditioning this past Saturday, along with hundreds of other students in grades 3-12 from around the country, these talented girls have been offered a coveted spot in the iTheatrics summer intensive workshop.
The girls will be working with Broadway theater professionals on the development of the newest Broadway Jr. show, Mary Poppins Jr. The workshop will take place from July 6-July 10. Participants work hard (usually from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) and get an insider’s view of how a Broadway musical is written, developed and brought to life on the stage. The show materials aren’t set for release to the public until the year 2017.
What a wonderful experience for Olivia and Samantha! Feel free to pass on your congratulations when you see them and remember to offer a heartfelt “Break a leg!”
Carmine Mastrokostas '18 and Tessa Payer '16 also participated in this workshop when they were Middle School students.
