Ranney Swimmers Continue to Compete

Swimming with their YMCA teams, Chang '18 and Smires '16 compete at NJ State Championship.
Two Ranney Varsity Swim Team members, Matthew Chang ’18 (Holmdel) and Audra Smires ’16 (Freehold), participated in the New Jersey YMCA 13 & Over State Swim Championship held March 13-15 in Lancaster, PA. As part of the YMCA teams, they did amazingly well at the meet, with Matthew qualifying in both the 100 and 200 Fly for Junior Olympics Swim Championships (to be held at Rutgers March 21) and Audra earning a 5th YMCA national cut in the 100 backstroke.

Overall, Matthew attained personal best times in all of his events. Below are a few of his rankings at the meet:
4th in the 100 Butterfly
8th in the 200 F Butterfly
5th in the 100 Freestyle
14th in the 200 Freestyle

Overall, Audra placed:
8th in the 100 Freestyle
6th in the 50 Freestyle
8th in the 100 Backstroke
14th in the 100 Butterfly
