Students earned funds for a cause while practicing key concepts as part of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Annual Math-A-Thon. Update: Students were among the top 10 national fundraisers!
Over the course of two weeks in April, Middle School students participated in the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Annual Math-A-Thon, ultimately raising more than $24,000! After obtaining financial sponsors, students completed grade-level math problems both online and in booklet form. The education-based fundraiser was coordinated by Upper School teacher Laura Goodrow and Middle School teachers Jane Guadagno, Judy Kelly and Carol Ann Rofrano.
“Students were able to use the Math-a-Thon problems to review math concepts and skills they learned earlier in the school year while raising funds for a cause. The students also generously donated their fundraising prizes back to the children of St. Jude’s,” said Mrs. Goodrow.
Update: In September 2015, Ranney found out that our students were among the top 10 fundraising schools in the nation, out of 7,000, for the spring 2015 St. Jude's Math-A-Thon! See article in the Monmouth Journal.
