Welcome Back Panthers!

In addition to enjoying campus enhancements and meeting new faculty faces, students will experience all kinds of new collaborative opportunities this year.
Ranney School is pleased welcome more than 750 students back to its Tinton Falls campus for the 2015-16 school year. In addition to several physical enhancements made to campus over the summer, including a new visual arts studio and photography dark room, Ranney students will experience all kinds of new collaborative opportunities this year.

For starters, new division heads Katie Gibson (Upper School), Matt Hall (Middle School) and Dr. Andrea Danial (Lower School) have been working together to streamline and align Ranney’s curriculum and student life opportunities. “As the division leaders of Ranney School, we are enthusiastic and optimistic about collaborating on the growth and enhancement of our community regarding student life, curriculum, athletics and the arts,” the three said before the start of the school year. “We look forward to working with our faculty and providing them with opportunities to learn and develop with each other across divisions and departments. Fostering a unified and positive climate through a sequential and integrated program will ultimately serve our students with a dynamic and exciting learning experience throughout their years at Ranney,” said the division heads. “In addition, we value the strong partnerships with families and are eager to cultivate those relationships in service of our community.”

Ranney’s three divisions are already joining forces with the school’s Advancement Office to grow a newly established Community Service Collaborative. Throughout the year, students, faculty, staff and parents in the Lower, Middle and Upper Schools will be working collectively to support food, clothing and toy drives, walks, beach cleanups and more, in connection with local community and nonprofit organizations. Stay tuned for our new online Community Service Collaborative bulletin board, where students can share their volunteer ideas and efforts to get even more Ranney individuals involved.

In addition, the divisions are working together to bridge the fifth-grade transition into Middle School by establishing new cross-divisional opportunities, such as opening the Middle/Upper School Paulus Library to fifth-graders. In turn, 10th graders will be working with their younger peers in the Lower School through classroom internships and in a variety of other capacities. And math teachers across all divisions are connecting in new ways to align curriculum and training.

The academic leadership team, guided by Assistant Head of School for Academics, Patricia Marshall, has also been working over the summer to mentor new faculty. Teachers returned to campus the week of August 24 not only to set up their classrooms (see photos herein), but also to work with their peer mentors and to participate in professional development opportunities. The faculty also had fun bonding with entertaining activities, such as an egg drop from the top of The Commons porch.  Ranney welcomes approximately 15 new teachers to our community this fall, including a new learning specialist, Lower School counselor and Physical Education Chair. Read the new faculty members’ bios.

“The 2015-16 class of new faculty is an outstanding group of educators,” said Mrs. Marshall. “Our search season this year lasted more than six months and stretched nationally to invite excellent, highly credentialed, student-centered and enthusiastic independent school teachers to join our faculty. The teachers, representing all divisions and departments, collectively have a profile from the nation’s best universities and are experts in their content areas. They are excited to begin working with our students and their colleagues to contribute to our academic program, to write curriculum and to lead student clubs, teams and programs. As proud as we are to have these professionals on our team, they too are proud to be part of the Ranney School community.”

Several exciting changes have been made to Ranney’s Athletic Department as well. Learn more about our growing interscholastic teams, new coaches and strategic athletic vision.

As we head into the fall season, share with us your #pantherpride moments on Twitter and Facebook. We will see you all during Homecoming/Fall Festival weekend October 16-17, starting with the second annual Friday Night Lights game in the grandstands!
