On October 17, 2015, Ranney School (Tinton Falls, NJ) will bring together 200 alumni, past and present teachers, and families to celebrate the induction of its 2015 Hall of Fame members. The annual ceremony honors former students, teachers and athletes who have achieved distinction in their field. Among the inductees this year are: actor and Broadway performer Jeff Blumenkrantz (Ranney’s Class of 1982), Emmy-award winner and executive producer John Andrews (Ranney’s Class of 1972), FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine Scientific Curriculum Director Dr. A’ndrea Van Schoick (Ranney’s Class of 1992), the school’s founder, Mr. Russell G. Ranney (posthumously), and current Visual Arts Director Kate Greenberg.
Mr. Blumenkrantz has performed in multiple Broadway, off-Broadway and television shows, including “30 Rock,” “The Good Wife,” “Will and Grace,” and “Law and Order.” Also a musical theater composer/lyricist, Mr. Blumenkrantz received a Tony nomination as one of the co-writers of the score of Urban Cowboy, as well as 2011 Fred Ebb Award as well as several commissions from Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center Originals, and Guggenheim Works and Process.
Mr. Andrews has won three Emmy Awards for his work on the PBS series “Adam Smith’s Money World” and served as a creative consultant on several Bill Moyers projects. He has produced animated series such as “Beavis and Butt-head,” and “Daria” as well as the Nickelodeon series “The Rugrats” and “The Wild Thornberrys.”
Dr. Van Schoick, a published researcher and local and national conference speaker, currently serves as director of the FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM) Scientific Curriculum, after a successful tenure as a new animal drug reviewer in the Office of New Animal Drug Evaluation for CVM. In addition, she is the owner of a five-state locum tenens primary care and emergency companion animal veterinary practice, and has been recognized as a top veterinarian in the Washingtonian and Virginia Living.
Mr. Ranney, who founded Ranney School’s predecessor, the Rumson Reading Institute, in 1960 for students across Monmouth and Ocean Counties, grew Ranney School to the prestigious educational institution it is today. With a vision of helping students achieve their utmost potential, he served as the independent school’s headmaster for 25-plus years before he passed away in 1987.
Also special to the honoree group this year is our current Visual Arts Director Ms. Kate Greenberg. Ms. Greenberg has been a beloved member of the school community since 1997. Her contributions to the arts curriculum and as a mentor to thousands of students across all disciplines and divisions have led to the stellar arts program we have today.
“We are proud to have such distinguished individuals and contributors to society among our alumni and our faculty,” said Tom Moriau, Ranney School's Director of Alumni Relations. “They serve as an inspiration to our young students and graduates who are looking to make their own impact in the world.”
The Hall of Fame awards are divided into three categories: Distinguished Alumni, Distinguished Faculty, and the Panther Athletic Hall of Fame. Additional inductees include: former faculty members John “Jack” Yale (posthumously), Laura Gillroy and Ginny Schuler as well as Ranney alum athletes Laura Smith (Class of 2007), Anna Rose Johnson (Class of 2008), Laura Church (Class of 2010) and the entire Ranney 1974 Varsity Boys’ Soccer team.
Ranney will also celebrate the school’s first graduating class—the Class of 1965—on its 50th anniversary at its October 17 awards ceremony and reunion. Included in the Class of 1965 is Mr. Harland Ranney, the son of Mr. Russell Ranney. The reunion marks the first 50th anniversary class that the school has had.
