Both Varsity Soccer Teams Headed to Shore Conference Playoffs

The teams' succesful seasons to date mark a first in Ranney athletic history.
In a Ranney School first, both the the Varsity Girls’ Soccer team and the Varsity Boys' Soccer team are headed to the Shore Conference tournament, beginning the week of October 19. Both teams have also qualified for the state playoffs, taking place the first week of November.

In their October 14 game against South River, which they won 2-1, the girls' team player Maggie Rustico ‘19 independently dribbled past three defenders to score and put the game into overtime. Leading goal scorer this season, Abby Boyan ’18, stepped up again when she scored in the last six minutes of extra time to help create this historical mark for Ranney athletics.

“I am very proud of the girls, but we must continue to work in a cohesive manner to attain success,” said Coach Wayne Henry, Ranney’s new Physical Education Department Chair.

The boys' soccer team is currently 9-4 in its fall 2015 season (as of October 15) and will also enter the Shore Conference tournament on October 22.  Ranney is expected to host one of the early November state playoff games for boys' soccer as well (details coming).
