Middle School Students Earn Top Awards at Nov 21 Robotics Competition
The Middle School Robotics Team competed against six VEX IQ teams November 21 at the McManus Middle School in Linden, NJ. Two teams qualified for the State Championship, taking place on our campus December 13, and one team qualified for the U.S. Open Robotics Championship sponsored by the CREATE Foundation, taking place in April in Iowa. Below are the full results:
Morning Competition Teamwork Results:
- 2nd Place: Shrish Vaidyaselvan and Nicholas Sakson: This team earned a finalist award in Teamwork and qualified for the State Championship.
- 5th Place: Winston Kelenc-Blank and Ross Mucciolo
- 11th Place: James Glover and Rohan Sikand
- 14th Place: Victoria and Jonathan Tager-Geffner
- 20th: Kayla Shah and Brandon Klatsky
- 23rd: Tommy Boyan and Zachary Barron
Two students decided to stay for the Afternoon Competition, ultimately winning the Teamwork challenge—Winston Kelenc-Blank and James Glover. These students also won a 2nd Place in Robot Skills and qualified for the state championship as well as the U.S Open Robotics Championship sponsored by the CREATE Foundation.
“The entire Ranney Middle School team put in a significant amount of effort and time to improve their robots and driving skills over the past week to help them be more competitive,” said advisor and math teacher Carol Ann Rofrano. “ I am proud of their efforts and happy to see them meet with success.”
