Orchestra and Band Players Earn Accolades

Students, alums and even parents nominated for awards and performances.
It was a wonderful weekend for Ranney musicians over December 12-13, 2015. Upper School Orchestra members participated in the CJMEA Region II Orchestra Auditions, including Dean Parker ’16 – violin, Brielle LoBello ’19 – viola, Jacob Egol ’19 – cello, Allison Sobieski ’18 –cello and Paul Jensen ’18 – timpani. Paul placed 2nd among 6th timpanists, earning the honor of performing with the Region II High School Orchestra on Jan. 11 at Montgomery High School. In addition, cellists Allison and Jacob placed 26th and 31st, respectively.   
 
“The students proudly represented our program, measuring up against the most competitive of the three regions in the state,” said All Division Orchestra Director Dr. Dorothy Sobieski.

In addition, the following Ranney community members were nominated for 2015 Asbury Music Awards nominations: Holden Glazer ’16 of The Catching Band – Top Young Band; Sofia Cioffi ’17, Ciano Cioffi (alum) and Ben Puvalowski (alum) of The Idjits Band – Top Indie Rock Band; Ian Bamberger (alum) - Top Male Solo Acoustic/Top Pop Rock/ Top Music Video; and the Karen Phillips Band (Karen is Mallory Burlington’s, Class of 2016, mother) - Top Female /Top  Vocalist Americana.

The awards will be presented on Dec. 17 at the Stone Pony.
