Winter Track Team Dents School Records at Shore Champs

Ranney's freshmen runners fought strong at the Shore Conference Championships this week.
Ranney's winter track team fought a strong fight at the Shore Conference Championships this week. Mia Glass '19 sliced a minute off our school record in the indoor 3200, running 16 laps in 13:03.1 - this was her first attempt at the distance indoors. Olivia Metzger, also a freshman, ran unseeded in her first 800, ultimately leading her heat from gun to finish line, finishing in 42md place in a field of 75. Her time of 2:40.85 is just two seconds shy of the school record. Fabio Tessiore '19 took a second off his personal best in the 400.

The team next heads to the Frosh/Novice championships, and then to Prep States on February 6, 2016.

Update: During the first week of February, Ranney’s winter varsity track team boys entered the Frosh-Novice Championship, aiming to improve their times for better seeding at the upcoming state championships—and they succeeded. In the novice 400, Marc Greenstein '18 led the field for both laps of his heat, finishing in a personal record 56.77 and coming in 16th in a field of 127. Fabio Tessiore '19, also lowered his personal record in the 400, running the freshman race in 1:04.78.

In the novice 55, Michael Zheng '18 edged out Jason Wu 18, as the pair broke the eight-second barrier, finishing in 7.96 and 7.97, respectively. In the novice shot put, throwing for the first time after returning from a pre-season injury, Charlie Fabricant '17 threw a personal record of 30'7".

The team heads to Lawrenceville on February 6, 2016 for the Prep B Championships.
