Lower School Music Teacher Holds 1 of 3 State Certifications

Lower School Music Teacher Lisa Geene has renewed her National Board Certification in Early/Middle Childhood Music after a year-long process involving writing and reflecting on professional development, as well as submission of a portfolio including her students’ work and a video of her teaching. She earned her original certification in 2006. Only three other teachers in New Jersey have national board certification in this category.

Mrs. Geene leads general music classes as well as chorus for Ranney’s Early Childhood and Lower School division. She is trained in World Music Drumming Level 1, Orff-Schulwerk Level 2, and iTheatrics Level 1, and is affiliated with American Mensa. She also directs the Lower School’s annual spring musical in which fourth- and fifth-graders put on a Broadway-style production.
