Cross Country Completes Season with a Bold Finish; Fitzmaurice Takes 88th at Meet of Champions
Ranney’s Varsity Cross Country teams ended the season with a bold finish at the NJSIAA Group Championships at Holmdel Park on November 12, 2016.
Shana Fitzmaurice '19 will head to the Meet of Champions once again based on the strength of her 5th place finish in 20:57, just shy of her Holmdel Park personal best, and improving her 2015 8th place finish. Mia Glass '19 came in 20th, also just off her personal best, while Olivia Knoop '20 earned a personal record of 29:28, and Laura Lehrfeld '18 ran 34:28.
For the boys, Olukayode Oladeji '19 finished in 29th place in 18:22, his best time ever at Holmdel. Liam Fitzmaurice '17 was next for Ranney at 20:25, followed by Jared Rush '17 at 21:16. Jackson Croke '19 finished just off his Holmdel personal record of 22:36, and Zhenglun Alan Li '19 smashed his personal record to finish in 23:09. The boys’ team overall finished 17th in a field of 21 teams.
Update Nov. 21, 2016: Shana Fitzmaurice '18 finished 88th place at the Meet of Champions, moving down 12 spots from her 2015 100th place! She ran the Holmdel Park course in 20:55, cheered on by friends and teammates as well as Chemistry Teacher Mr. Gance, who cleared time from his daughter's wedding day to be there.
