Indoor Track Team Shows at County Champs; C. Fabricant Smashes School Record

Ranney’s Varsity Indoor Track Team had an excellent outing at its first individual meet of the season - the Monmouth County Championships held on January 13, 2017, at the Bennett Arena in Toms River.

Team Captain Charles Fabricant '17 completed his goal, capturing the school record in the shot put with a toss of 32'11", smashing the record previously held by Dan Turtel '09 by more than a foot. Charlie finished 51st in a field of 83 throwers.

In the 400, Marc Greenstein '18 ran to a personal record of 55:32 to capture 23rd place.  Matthew Wrigley '20, running his debut 400, had a 1:04.55 final time, followed by Ethan Brandon '19 in 1:05.59.  Marc and Matthew also ran the 55, finishing in 7.21 for 36th place, and 7.79 for 89th place, respectively, in a field of 101 competitors.

Olivia Metzger '19 ran the 800, earning a personal record of 2:38.39, just .36 seconds off a school record, finishing 30th. Olivia Knoop '20, in her first varsity match up, ran the 1600 in 7:35.8.

After a week of no competition, the team heads to the Toms River Frosh Novice Championships, and Greenstein and Metzger to the Shore Conference Championships, the week of January 23.
