Middle Schoolers Invited to Summer Broadway Academy

Since 2009, our young performing artists have tried out annually for the Summer Broadway Academy in New York City. This year, five Ranney Middle School students have been accepted to the 2017 program:

  • John Leventhal '21 - Matilda JR
  • Siobhan Jones '21 - Nice Work if You Can Get It (High School Edition)
  • Olivia Batista '21 - Sister Act JR (This will be Olivia's third year in a row in the program)
  • Elena Raccuia '21 - Sister Act JR
  • Kiri Patient '23 - Sister Act JR
These students will be joining young thespians from around the country to work on new Broadway materials developed for middle and high schools. Students will spend 1 - 2 weeks working with professional theater artists. The culmination is a staged reading for invited families, educators, the authors of the show, and representatives from the licensing houses, who review the results and revise show materials accordingly - all for the purpose of making these new adaptations available to schools and community theatre groups in the near future.
