Personal & Event Records Earned at Recent Track Meets

The Ranney Boys’ Track Team spent their holiday weekend running relays at the Eagle Invitational on April 15 at Central Regional High School. The team's biggest finish of the day went to the Distance Medley relay team of Kayode Oladeji '19, 1200, Toby Savage '18, 400, Alex Klatsky '19, 800, and Liam Fitzmaurice '17, 1600.

Kayode led off, setting a blistering pace, running the first 800 of his 1200 at the fastest pace he has ever done over 800 meters.  Toby followed with a 400 that tied the Ranney record for the 400 dash.  Alex also ran his fastest time ever for the 800, and Liam, already the school record-holder in the 800 and 1600, ran a solid 1600 to finish the team in 7th place - just one place and 6 seconds out of the medals.

The boys 4 x 100 team of Toby Savage, Yishou Sam Shan '19, Mike Zheng '18, and Scottie Lewis '19 set a new school record for the relay, lowering the time by more than 6 seconds. The sprint medley team (200-200-400-800) of Shan, Lewis, Zheng—along with Sam Novotny '20 who pressed into service at the last minute to run his first competitive 800--ran a 4:21.56, besting their seed time by 20 seconds.

Previously, on April 13, the boys and girls track team members participated in their second combined meet of the season. The girls bested Henry Hudson 36-16 in the dual/dual duels, but fell to Mater Dei 117-11 in their second meet of the season.  The boys bested Henry Hudson 63-12, while falling to Mater Dei 13-113.

Scottie Lewis '19, lowered two of his school records, winning the overall 200 in 23.2 and the high jump at 6'2" while Alex Klatsky hurdled his way to a school record in the 400 hurdles, 1:04.7.
