Ranney Well Represented in NJ Thespian Society

Ranney is being well represented at the NJ Thespian Society, the state chapter of the Education Theatre Association, which sponsors the International Thespian Society (ITS). Maya Jacoby '22 and Kiri Patient '23 will be attending the NJ Jr. Thespians' Board Meeting on Saturday, Nov. 18 for the first time, as they take their place among the newly appointed student executive committee as Junior Thespian State Officers (JTSOs).

JTSOs are selected through an application process; these students were notified last week of their appointments and are excited to be representing Ranney School in their new roles.

Their first meeting will take place at Toms River HS North and will include the planning and organization of the annual NJ Jr. Thespian State Festival, which is scheduled for April 21, 2018.

Additionally, Lilly Torrente has been appointed to the State Board of the New Jersey Jr. as the new Sponsorship/Fundraising Coordinator.
Below is the testimonial Ms. Torrente shared on why she wanted Ranney middle school students involved with this organization -

"I was looking to offer my students a theatrical experience outside of school, so we attended the 2017 NJ Jr. Thespians Festival and I’m so glad we did!  It was clear to me that attending the festival was not enough and that my students and I needed full access to all this honor society offered. What better way to recognize their hard work, encourage them to continue to participate in the theatre program at our school, and present opportunities for connecting with like-minded students from across the state? And with so few honor societies available to middle school students, I think it’s great that ITS offers junior leadership opportunities at the troupe and state level. Starting the troupe was easy. I reviewed the point system and after applying it to my students, I had a list of qualifying candidates. I am happy to say that we are now officially Troupe 88360 with an induction planned for Spring 2018. Thanks NJ Jr. Thespians!"  -L. Torrente, Troupe 88360
