Boys' Basketball Seeded First in SCT
For the first time in school history, the Ranney boys’ basketball team clinched the outright Class B Central top seed. The Panthers are 20-4 this season, with a first-ever perfect 14-0 record in B Central Shore Conference play.
The Panthers earned the top seed in the
Shore Conference Tournament, announced after the Shore Conference Tournament seeding committee, made up of both boys’ and girls’ coaches from each of the six divisions, met Sunday, Feb. 11 at Red Bank Catholic High School to determine the seeding.
Ranney has a bye in the first round and will host the winner of Barnegat/Middletown South in the second round on Thursday, Feb. 15 at 6 p.m. as both first and second round games are held on the court of the higher seed.
The boys’ quarterfinals (Sunday, Feb. 18) and semifinals (Thursday, Feb. 22) will be played at RWJBarnabas Health Arena in Toms River.
The championship games for both boys and girls will be played on Saturday, Feb. 24 in a doubleheader at OceanFirst Bank Center at Monmouth University. The games will be broadcast live on Beach Radio 1160/1310AM and shoresportsnetwork.com.
The NJSIAA boys’ basketball tournament was seeded on Thursday and announced officially on Friday – the bracket can be found here.
Second-seeded Ranney will host No. 15 seed Wardlaw-Hartridge at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 27. The winner of that game will play No. 7 Rutgers Prep/No. 10 Calvary Christian on March 1 in the quarterfinals. The third round will be played on March 3 and Non-Public finals will be on March 10 at Toms River North.
