Boys' Basketball Brings Home First Shore Conference Championship

The Ranney School boys’ basketball team secured the school’s first-ever Shore Conference Tournament title with a 52-28 win against Mater Dei Prep in front of a sold out crowd on Saturday, Feb. 24 at Monmouth University.

The Panthers were in control for the whole game, as they took a 32-10 lead into the locker room at halftime, after holding Mater Dei to 16.7 percent shooting. Ranney would not be denied once it had its sights set on that trophy, holding the Seraphs to two points in the fourth quarter.

Ahmadu Sarnor earned MVP honors with 15 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Scottie Lewis added 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Bryan Antoine chipped in 10 points, three assists, three steals and three blocks.

For the tournament, Lewis averaged 21 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, while shooting better than 60 percent.

The Panthers now take their 24-4 record into the NJSIAA Tournament, which begins on Tuesday.
