Ranney History Bowl Teams Earn Accolades

Ranney’s History Bowl team competed at the Southern New Jersey Regional Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 17 with very impressive showings both as a team and as individuals. Both the Varsity and JV teams qualified for the 2018 National Tournament in Washington, D.C.
 
TEAM EVENTS:
  • In Varsity History Bowl, the Ranney A Team (Varun Sikand, Jacob Egol, Ankur Govil) reached the Semifinals.
  • In JV History Bowl, the Ranney B Team (Seth Marx, Alex Senderov, Emily Chang) captured 2nd place.
  • Both the Varsity and JV teams qualified for the 2018 National Tournament in Washington, DC.
 
INDIVIDUAL EVENTS:
  • In Varsity National History Bee, Jacob Egol won the 1st place trophy, and Varun Sikand took 2nd place. 
  • In JV National History Bee, Alex Senderov won the 1st place trophy, and Seth Marx took 3rd place. 
  • Jacob, Varun, Alex, and Seth all qualified for the 2018 National Tournament, and also qualified for the International History Olympiad to be held this summer in Berlin. 
  • Also, Jatin Nayyar reached semifinals in the JV National History Bee, and qualified for Nationals.
  • In the Varsity US History Bee, Varun Sikand took 1st place, and Ankur Govil took 3rd place. 
  • In JV US History Bee, Ranney students swept 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places: Alex Senderov in 1st, Seth Marx in 2nd, and Olivia Knoop in 3rd. All three qualified for Nationals, in addition to Emily Chang. 
  • Finally, in the JV division of the US Geography Olympiad and the International Geography Bee, Alex Senderov won 2nd place, and along with Alex, Anthony Virone and Seth Marx also qualified for Nationals.
