Leah Nawy Selected for Tisch Summer Program

Leah Nawy '19 was accepted to the 2018 Tisch Summer High School Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music program.

The response to the Summer 2018 program was strong and the applicant pool was competitive. They look for students who are disciplined, motivated and energetic; able to contribute to the growth of fellow students; work well in an ensemble environment; and have the maturity and readiness for this program.

As a participant for four-weeks, Leah will be an "entrepreneur-in-training" and study how music is recorded, produced, and distributed.  She will also learn how music companies are conceptualized, created, and grown as well as how new technologies are changing the way we hear music. She will have exposure to a wide range of current practices, as well as to those executives and artists changing the rules in the new "digital" era of music.

"Always a serious musician for as long as I've known her, Leah jumped right into the Performing Arts Department's offerings upon arriving at Ranney School in 6th grade," said Performing Arts faculty member Lilly Torrente. "A valued member of the chorus since then, she has performed at every Winter and Spring concert since, and has been featured in both MS and US Coffee Houses and Musicals.  You might have heard her singing or playing music at recent basketball games, or accompanying the LS Chorus. We look forward to Leah sharing her new knowledge with us next year and wish her all the best as she takes on this latest challenge! "

Leah is a member of Tri-M and is currently enrolled in the AP Music Theory course.
