Lower School Students Participate in CJMEA Honors Chorus

On Saturday, May 9, nine members of the Ranney Lower School Chorus participated in the CJMEA (Central Jersey Music Educators Association) Honors Chorus Festival with Mrs. Geene at Monroe Township Middle School. Students must be nominated for this opportunity to sing in a day-long festival for Elementary and Intermediate students; they prepared the music prior to the festival on their own and in after school practice sessions.

Sia Desai '34, Sophia Duarte '34, Teddy Filusch '33, Carson Gray '33, Brooke Kwidzinski '33, Jacob Levin '34, Elliana Nadhim '33, Carter Novick '34, and Lily Sopko '33 spent the day singing, rehearsing, and learning with other students and chorus directors from schools throughout central New Jersey. The Treble Chorus (grades 4-6) of 120 students performed Siyahamba (Zulu), Firefly, Quiet Sea, Cirandeiro (Portuguese), and Tres Canciones de los Elementos (Spanish) in the afternoon concert for families.

"Our Lower School students represented Ranney well, they were all engaged and respectful to the directors and other students," said Mrs. Geene. "This was a wonderful opportunity for our chorus students and we enjoyed spending the day together singing!"
