Middle School Student Council Leaders Attend Conference
Two emerging student leaders from Ranney Middle School recently took a major step in their leadership journey by attending the New Jersey Association of Student Councils (NJASC) Conference. The Student Council President and Vice President spent the day connecting with student leaders from across the state, learning valuable lessons in authentic leadership, teamwork, and service.
Held annually, the NJASC Conference brings together student council representatives and advisors from middle and high schools throughout New Jersey. The event offers a unique opportunity to network, exchange ideas, and learn from nationally recognized speakers who inspire and challenge students to become stronger leaders in their schools and communities. Throughout the year, NJASC hosts events for student leaders and advisors across the state. These events are designed to strengthen leadership skills, build lasting connections, and foster a spirit of service and community.
This year’s conference also introduced the 2025–2026 NJASC State Charity: Crisis Response Canines. Beyond the keynote speakers and charity initiative, the students participated in workshops that emphasized leadership rooted in self-awareness, empathy, and integrity. Through interactive sessions, they learned how to lead with compassion and purpose.
Middle School Student Council President Navya Gala ‘30 said of the experience, “The NJASC Fall Conference was such a pleasure to attend. While we were there, we got the opportunity to listen to Evan Wesley, a motivational speaker, talk about leadership and learn about the main charity we will be donating to, Crisis Response Canines. Crisis Response Canines is a charity that consists of trained therapy dogs that go to different schools across the country who may have experienced trauma in or around their school. While we were there, we also got to meet the New Jersey State Board of Student Council.”
Vice President Max Monat ‘31 said, “I enjoyed the conference and learned so much from it! I liked the conference because Evan Wesley taught us about how the younger generation does not have to be the future of the world, but can be the present of the world if they put their mind to it.”
The student leaders were inspired to continue their work with the Ranney Middle School community as they help put all of the lessons they learned into action!
