Upper School Students Selected to All-Shore Jazz Band

Congratulations to the following students who were accepted into the 2026 All Shore Jazz Bands.

Elijah Anderson-Trumpet, 3rd Chair Lab Band
Thomas Li-Drum Set Chair, Lab Band
Jessie Yuan-Piano Chair, Jazz Band

These students prepared and performed the required examples for their instrument and a sight-reading example for a panel of blind judges at Holmdel High School on Tuesday, January 20th.  They scored high enough to stand out from the competition and were selected from a highly competitive pool of jazz band students vying for these coveted spots.

Elijah, Jessie, and Thomas will rehearse with the other accepted high school-aged jazz musicians in Monmouth and Ocean counties over the next two weeks, culminating in a performance on February 6th at Manalapan High School.  The Jazz Band will be conducted by Mr. Kyle Titmas of Ocean Township High School and will feature Carl Lungren of the US Navy Commodores as the trombone soloist.  Mr. Dan McGrath of Barnegat High School will conduct the Lab Band.

"The All-Shore Jazz Band chairs continue to be increasingly competitive each year; many students audition, and most are turned away," said All-School Band Director Mr. John Propper. "Elijah, Thomas, and Jessie all diligently prepared and put forth their best effort at the auditions, and they were selected to join the highly achieving jazz bands.  They rose above the competition and earned their well-deserved seats in these exclusive ensembles.  Ranney Upper School Jazz Band consistently has students accepted into the All-Shore Jazz Bands, and this year is another strong showing for our ensemble".
