Ranney School Board Introduces Two New Trustees

The Ranney School Board of Trustees welcomed two new Trustees, alumnus Dr. Niraj Govil ’85 (Ankur ’18, Ankush ’23) and Mrs. Lisa Mallach (Jane (’20), William ’26).

“We are ecstatic that we are able to add such dedicated and supportive individuals to the Board of Trustees,” said Board Chair Bob Chandler (Jillian ’21, Morgan ’22, Brooks ‘27.) “We are very fortunate to have an engaged and active board that has the school’s well-being as its top priority. Niraj and Lisa will be wonderful assets and we look forward to their added perspectives.”

Dr. Govil graduated from Ranney School in 1985 and has been a Ranney School parent since 2005. He has served on the Education and Diversity Committees, as well as the Medical Advisory Board and the Alumni Leadership Council. Dr. Govil has played an instrumental role in advising the school during the ongoing pandemic. He and his wife Dr. Ranjana Govil were the lead donors who inspired the creation of the recently dedicated Govil Cultural Learning Commons on campus. Niraj graduated from the University of Rochester and Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He is a Flight Surgeon and Public Health Emergency Officer in the US Air Force.

“Never in my life have I seen such an incredible metamorphosis like I have with Ranney School. I graduated in 1985. Since that time, Ranney School, due to excellent leadership and resources, has continued to transform into the incredible learning institution that it is today. It is an honor and a privilege to be part of this constant improvement process at Ranney, which serves as an important launch pad for the next generation of leaders."

Mrs. Mallach, a marketing professional, has served on the Marketing Committee at Ranney since 2016. She previously held leadership roles in the Ranney School Parents’ Association, chairing the sponsorship committee and serving on the Panther Ball Gala Committee. She and her husband, Doug Mallach, have been generous supporters of the school for many years. Mrs. Mallach graduated from Bucknell University with a B.A. in sociology.

Mallach shared “Our family joined Ranney in 2005, and we have seen tremendous growth in our children and the school. Ranney recognized and supported our children as individuals, fostering curiosity and confidence both in and out of the classroom. We are grateful for all that Ranney has given our family, and I am excited to have the opportunity to give back to the Ranney community.”
The role of the Board of Trustees at independent schools, like Ranney, is to help set the strategic vision of the school and marshal resources to support this vision. As in other 501(c)(3) nonprofit schools, the Board approves and stewards the school's mission and also approves the annual budget and tuition changes. The school renews membership on its Board Committees on an annual basis. Committee members may be nominated to become Trustees of the Board after serving on one or more Board Committees for at least one year.
