Tri-M National Honor Society hosts annual Fall Coffee House

Last Friday, October 10th, Ranney School’s chapter of Tri-M National Honor Society hosted the annual Fall Coffee House. The Fall Coffee House is a special event celebrating the love of music, during which Ranney students perform various acts. Hosted by MCs O’Hara Kane-Assatly and Jason Meng, the event was a huge success.

Performances included singing, solo piano, solo cello, dancing, and bands. Throughout the duration of the event, audience members could purchase baked goods from Tri-M’s delicious bakesale, which included cookies, cupcakes, brownies, egg tarts, and other homemade snacks made by the Tri-M members.

Members made this event possible by setting up for the event, taking part in stage crew, lighting, sound, and selling at the bake sale. The money raised will be contributed to our end-of-year donation to the Cecilia Foundation. The Cecilia Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to giving underprivileged students the opportunity to learn music. The organization gifts professional instruments to young musicians and grants scholarships that fund their education. The Cecilia Foundation began in 1987 and has since expanded throughout the tri-state area. Last year, Ranney donated around $2,000 to the Cecilia Foundation. This not only helped underprivileged students, but also played a major role in Ranney’s New Jersey Chapter of the Year win. Looking ahead, Tri-M is working on partnering with Ranney Middle School’s Jr. Tri-M for future coffee houses, which would help foster a deeper connection between divisions in the Ranney community. Tri-M is also looking forward to another successful coffee house in late winter.
