Lower School Introduces the Ranney Gazette

What began as a simple idea over lunch has quickly grown into a full-fledged project for the Lower School. Hadley Mendelson ’34 approached Mrs. Lahiri over lunch one day and suggested the idea of a newspaper for the Lower School. Mrs. Lahiri loved the idea and shared it with the students at the next Lower School Gathering, inviting budding reporters to submit articles.

By the following week, two finished articles had already been submitted. Soon after, two more arrived. The spark of an idea had become reality.

The new publication, officially named the Ranney Gazette, currently features work from its first two reporters: Hadley and Riley Mendez ’34. Their stories are displayed proudly on a bulletin board outside Mrs. Reddington’s office, where students and teachers can stop by to read the latest contributions.

Two more reporters have emerged this week, with Vera Kamvar ’34 and Ellie Ward ’34 joining the group of journalists.

If the Gazette continues to grow, the collection will move to a larger board to accommodate more student work. Best of all, any Lower School student is invited to contribute. The Ranney Gazette is a space for young voices to be heard, stories to be shared, and creativity to shine.
