US Drama Presents Dracula

Ranney Thespian Troupe 630 and the Ranney Performing Arts Department have been busy rehearsing “Dracula-The Radio Play” by Philip Grecian based on the novel by Bram Stoker.

The radio play format and style beacons back to a simpler time before cell phones, computers, and televisions. It harkins to a time when people escaped the challenges of their times by gathering together around their radio to listen to their favorite serial radio play.

“Dracula-The Radio Play” has served the Ranney performers in a similar fashion during the Covid pandemic.  The performance style translated well into the precautions taken by the Ranney Community. Rehearsals have been virtual and hybrid.

Despite our tech savvy crew, there will be no pre-recorded sound effects. All of the sound effects are live (check out an example here, with Mr. Doyle’s wind machine in action).

The performers and Foley sound crew have enjoyed learning about this vintage performance style and are anxious for the taping of the show on Thursday, January 28 with a YouTube Premier release to the Ranney Community on Friday, February 5th at 7 p.m.

So get out the garlic and stakes and be prepared to experience the top entertainment of 1946 when the WRAN Players present “Dracula-The Radio Play” by Phillip Grecian from their radio studio on Hope Road.
