Ranney Competes in Big Questions Debates

On Saturday, February 20, Crosby Collins '23 and Jared Gizersky '24 competed in the Big Questions Debates as part of the Borelli Memorial and New Jersey District Speech and Debate Tournaments.

Big Questions is a one-to-one debate format based on philosophical open-ended topics. This year the resolution was Resolved: Mathematics was discovered not invented. In a minimum of four rounds students must argue either the affirmative or negative position, with two cross-fire opportunities where they must spar by questioning their opponents.

Crosby finished the day with a 2-2 record and Jared, who broke into the quarterfinals, earned a 4-3 record, bringing his total National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) points to 93, an unprecedented score for a Ranney freshman.
