Ranney Orchestra Students Participate in CJMEA

On Saturday, April 9th, 10 Ranney orchestra students participated in the 2022 Central Jersey Music Educators Association Elementary and Middle School Honors Orchestra Festival:

Karina Bhatnagar '28, cello
Ava Costa '28, violin
Judah Adler '29, cello
Josiah Anderson '29, violin
Martin Heijs '29, cello
Woody Paulus '29, cello
Valentina Afriyie '30, violin
Odin Aspen '30, cello
Navya Gala '30, cello
Madison Margolis '30, violin

The students performed alongside peers representing several orchestra programs in the central New Jersey region.

They were grouped in three orchestras - red, gold and blue, who rehearsed throughout the day and each presented a separate concert in the afternoon. Ranney students performed in red and gold orchestras, directed by Mrs. Melissa Clark and Mrs. Haley Lopez respectively.

“I was happy to contribute to the event as a manager of the gold orchestra and must say I felt very proud seeing our young musicians not only perform beautifully, but also confidently participate in rehearsals by answering questions, volunteering insights, and showing their knowledge of string-specific techniques and terms,” said Performing Arts Department Chair Dr. Dorothy Sobieski. “It was a very successful day for everyone!”
