MS Production of Newsies Nominated for Seven Foxy Awards

The Ranney Middle School's January production of Newsies Jr. has been nominated for seven Montclair State University Theater Night awards! These awards, known as the Foxy Awards, recognize excellence in the production of high school and middle school plays and musicals throughout New Jersey.  The awards honor the accomplishments and individual achievements of both students and educators in the areas of performance, direction, design and technical theatre, as well as outstanding overall productions.

Participating schools send video recordings of their productions, and they are evaluated by a panel of experts. There will be an awards ceremony on Monday, May 20, at Montclair State's Memorial Auditorium.
 
Newsies Jr. was nominated in the following categories:
  • Outstanding Achievement in Lighting Design for a Middle School Play or Musical 
  • Outstanding Achievement in Sound Design for a Middle School Play or Musical
  • Outstanding Achievement by a Dance Captain for a Middle School Play or Musical (Ilana Kasner)
  • Outstanding Achievement by a Dance Ensemble in a Middle School Musical
  • Outstanding Achievement in Choreography in a Middle School Musical
  • Outstanding Achievement in Direction of a Middle School Musical
  • Outstanding Production of a Middle School Musical
